In the fall of 1979, five of us transformed an old funky cafe into a handcrafted veggie restaurant. Our menu was limited and our patrons sometimes forced to imitate sardines because of our lack of space, but each year we added more delectables to the menu and more "Normalites" to the venue.
Through the years the emphasis in our cooking has been using fresh ingredients (organic when available), inventing original recipes (born from creative chaos!), and including thoughtfulness in preparation and presentation of food. All these elements produce what we call "GONZO CUISINE." We're ever mindful, as well, of maintaining a cooperative work environment (even the cooks do dishes!), a unique style, and a "growth through challenge" attitude. All of this makes us "NEARLY NORMAL."
